If You Ignore It, It Will Go Away - The Bloody Nipple Saga

I tried to make several points with this comic. The "hidden" one is tied together with the previous comic, that snarky comments by the players at least shows the GM that the players are paying attention.

This is another "very" large comic, clocking in at 1.3 MB (I attempt to keep all of them under 1 MB). I'm going to justify it as: a. previous comics have been fairly small, and b. I love this speech by Max Von Sydow.

I also just noticed that this is yet another silent penultimate panel. The "Pouring Gems" sound effect was to make it clear what the king was doing, which was hard to capture in a still image.

Transcript:

Scene: Valeria, Conan, and Subotai stand before King Osric, surrounded by guards.

King Osric (DM):{Holds up a fancy dagger} Do you see this? They call it "The Fangs of the Serpent." And this one was thrust into a father's heart by his very son. And my own daughter has fallen under this Thulsa Doom's spell. Is there a dagger such as this in her hand for me? She follows him as a slave, seeking for the truth of her soul, as if I could not give it to her! { Throws the dagger into a table beside him. } As we speak, my daughter travels East to Thulsa Doom and his mountain of power. She is to be his! { Snaps his fingers. The King's aid brings a tray with a cup. The King turns the cup over, spilling out gems. } Steal my daughter back. There's more. Much more. Enough to become kings yourselves. { Conan, Subotai, and Valeria all stare back blankly. }

Subotai:Oh, sorry. I was reading the rule book. Could you repeat that?

Conan:I think he just gave us a bunch of jewels.

Valeria:I think there was a quest in there somewhere.

Conan:Something about being kings?

Valeria:Like "Prince and the Pauper," or real kings?

DM:You guys are hopeless, you know that?
